The PSNR is one of the largest natural areas protected by the state of Peru , with an extension of 2,080,000 hectares . Protects the entire basin of the Pacaya and Samiria River and is created with the aim of conserving the resources of flora and fauna as well as the scenic beauty, characteristics of the humid tropical forest.
It is the third most important of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. It flows into the Rio Marañon , close to the village Santo Domingo, checkpoint entry area. The entire area of the basin is included in ecological floor of tropical rain forest . It is a river of sewage that runs approximately 180 km within which more than 12 lakes and 59 streams are located. Abundant wildlife such as birds, rodents, mammals, monkeys, Huacamayos , parrots , hawks , toucans, aquatic turtles ( taricayas and charapas) , variety of fish and alligators observed . Just as the largest freshwater fish in the world: the ” Paiche ” Arapaima gigas .

08.00 Departure to the city of Nauta via highway 100 kilometers from Iquitos- Private car. We will navigate to the small Caserio “Buenos Aires” where we will stay in a Tourist Shelter “Bromelias Pacaya Samiria Tour” in cabins with mosquito net and shared bathroom Night excursion knowing the wildlife of the area. Lunch dinner.
After breakfast we will depart through the river upstream to make a stop in a jungle and explore the area knowing part of the Flora & Fauna, being able to observe different types of birds and monkeys. In the afternoon, fishing for Piranhas and other species in a canoe. At night excursion in canoe or boat possibility of observing caimans and some other nocturnal species, fishing with arrow. Overnight in the camp with karpas. Breakfast lunch dinner.
Observation of birds in their habitat, also monkeys and other wild species in canoe. Lunch will be on board as we will be sailing into the jungle. Arrival to the native community called “Yarina” we will interact with its inhabitants and we will know their way of life – overnight in the community house. Breakfast lunch dinner.
Departure to the Cocha el Dorado where the Canta Gallo surveillance post is located, lodging in the visitor shelter. To the majesty of the lake we must add the beauty of the forests that surround it and the abundance of fauna, especially of water birds, bands of herons and cushuris flying over the lake. Dolphins are observed at any time of the day. There is a great abundance of fish, it is easy to see large lizards and alligators, on its shores you can easily observe howler monkeys and other species. At dawn and dusk are hundreds of parrots that fly over the lake. We will observe with patience the buzzing of the paiches “Arapaima Gigas” arahuanas, we will also observe the biggest rodent in the world “Capibaras or Ronsoco” Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner.
Very early walk to observe birds. Excursion through el Dorado Cocha. After lunch, return to spend the night in the community of Yarina. Breakfast lunch dinner.
Very early return. Stop at the Santo Domingo Surveillance Post. Arrival to Nauta we will board our private mobility and travel to the city of Iquitos.
