We will pick you up from the airport or your hotel. Then, we will take a walk through the city center to see the main square, the main church, the Iron House, the waterfront, and historic houses from the rubber boom era.
Next, we will go to the river port and board a motorboat. We will travel along the Itaya River for about 15 minutes before reaching the Amazon River. Your guide will share information about the river, and we will look for gray and pink river dolphins along the way.
We will continue by boat to Curaka Expeditions. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with a fresh seasonal fruit drink and receive your private bungalow.
After lunch, we will explore the rainforest on foot and learn about its plants and wildlife.
You will also see how sugarcane juice is made using traditional methods and have the chance to taste fresh juice and products such as sugarcane rum and molasses.
After dinner, we will take a night walk or a canoe trip, depending on the season. We will look for nocturnal wildlife and listen to the sounds of the rainforest while your guide shares local stories.
Overnight at Curaka Expeditions.
Day 2
Birdwatching and Visit to the Bora Community
At 6:00 AM, we will go birdwatching on foot or by canoe to see birds in their natural habitat.
After breakfast, we will visit a local riverside resident who will show us animals such as non-venomous boa constrictors, sloths, and turtles.
We will return to the lodge for lunch, featuring traditional Patarashca, a local fish dish cooked in leaves.
After lunch, we will travel back to Iquitos by boat. Along the way, we will visit the Bora community to learn about their traditions, language, clothing, and traditional dances. You may bring small items to exchange for their handmade crafts.
Upon arrival in Iquitos, we will transfer you to the airport or your hotel.
